Avio: Pratt & Whitney's Canada PW100 engine Maintenance Repair and Overhaul activities sold to ITP


DISCLAIMER: Press releases in the present section refer to the period before the purchase by Nuovo Pignone Holding S.p.A. (General Electric Group) of the Company business unit relative to the aeronautical activities of Avio S.p.A., which took place on 1 August 2013. Starting from this date, all activities regarding the design, development and manufacture of accessory drive trains and power transmissions, low-pressure turbines, combustors, afterburners, subsystems and MRO and CRO activities for civil and military aeronautical engines became an integral part of the business of GE Aviation.

Rivalta di Torino (Turin, Italy), 6 May 2013 – Today, Avio has sold to Industria de Turbo Propulsores S.A. (ITP), the Spanish group supplying services and products for aeronautical engines and gas turbines, the Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) activities relative to P&WC’s PW100 turboprop engines, which power aircraft such as the ATR 42/72.

The transaction includes the transfer to ITP of all relevant assets and the commercial contracts pertaining to MRO business activities which have been performed to date in Avio’s Pomigliano d’Arco (Naples) plant. The transaction will not affect Avio’s employees involved in the P&WC’s PW100, who will be redeployed and retrained within the industrial site on other sustainable and long-term activities.

Over the next months, Avio will continue to support ITP and all the customers of such business, in order to ensure an efficient and smooth transition, continuity of all operations in progress with the current standards of service.

With the sale of the P&WC’s PW100 MRO activities, Avio will pursue a consolidation strategy in his most profitable core business areas, which will allow it to ensure the resources necessary to guarantee development of the Company.
